In de 16de eeuw lag in Berrum het woonhuis van een tak van de familie Aylva. In 1406 lagen op de terp Berrum ten zuiden van Tzum twee rechtvoerende staten: Egberts state en Elgera statha by Siurd Berma stinze. In 1408, 1421 en 1433 voerde Egbert thoe Berrum het recht voor zijn eigen state. Voor de andere state, Elgera bij de stins, trad in 1406 en 1416 Gerrolt Herema op. Siurd Berma, die op de stins woonde, fungeerde wel als rechter, maar niet vanwege zijn stins. In 1511 en 1514 behoorden de state te Berrum en het aangrenzende goed Nyedoor (FC27) toe aan Sits Walta, de weduwe van Syurd Aylva te Schraard. Hoe zij die had verkregen is onbekend. Omdat de buurschap Berrum in 1511 geen andere sates had, zal Sits Aylva-Walta in ieder geval rechtsopvolgster in Gerrolt Herema's rechten op Elgera state en ten aanzien van Siurd Berma's stins zijn geweest. Sits liet de sates te Berrum en Nyedoor na aan haar zoon Watze Aelua. Deze woonde met zijn vrouw Sitke Roorda ook te Berrum. In 1563 liet Sitke, als weduwe van Wattzie Ayluwa thoe Tzum, in haar testament de sate Nyedoor na aan haar kleindochter Auck Scheltes Aelua (gest. 1608), en Berrum als prelegaat aan haar zoon Joan Aelua, die ook te Tzum ging wonen. In 1640 en 1700 waren beide goederen gewone pachtgoederen geworden.\"",
