In 1528 gaf Katheryn Hottinga, weduwe van Juw Dekema, bij testament haar zoon Sicke Dekema Manninge goedt toe Hiellum met nog twee goederen in hetzelfde dorp en renten uit een goed te Lollum bij Franeker. In de 16de eeuw behoorde de state aan de familie Botnia.\" \r\n\r\nSIF: \"De oudste vermelding van een Mammema Stins dateert van rond 1400.\" \" De stins zou omstreeks 1400 gebouwd zijn en vele malen verbouwd en gemoderniseerd. Een van de laatste moderniseringen heeft rond 1787 plaatsgevonden, waarbij de hoge bomen van het park sneuvelden. In 1854 stond het slot te huur, maar er was kennelijk weinig animo voor, want op 8 maart 1856 werd de state op afbraak verkocht en een maand later lag alles tegen de vlakte.\"",
