Dat het een van de belangrijke huizen in deze omgeving was, blijkt uit de opvaart die er vanuit de Schwartzenbergs Sloot of Rijstervaart heen voerde. In de loop van de 17de eeuw werd Galama opgenomen in het door singels omgeven land rond het huis Rijs.\"",
