Blijkens de naam van de pachter Gerleff Thiegera in 1511 werd toen de naam Thiegera, Tiegera of Tyegera guedt te Medwert (1543) reeds gebruikt. In 1700 heette het Tygra, in 1850 Tygera. In de eerste helft van de 15de eeuw woonde hier Epe Tzigera, gehuwd met Bauck Ingia.\"\r\n\"De boerderij onderscheidde zich op kaarten niet door de aanwezigheid van een wier of een brede gracht. Van Tzigera bestaan geen oude afbeeldingen. Op de kaarten van Schotanus (1664, 1718) draagt het geen naam.\"",
