Deze plaatsen zijn zó oud dat de vroegere “Hooge Heere Weg”, de voormalige hoofdweg van zuid naar noord, om deze terpen heen gelegd is.\r\nMellinga State stond iets te noorden van Juckema State en veel dichter bij Finkum dan bij Stiens. Rond 1650 was het eigendom van de familie Van Burmania. In 1700 is de state eigendom van Allard van Burum die hier tot 1729 heeft gewoond.
