Lunia wordt voor het eerst in 1439 vermeld, als Wpka Doyema de pastorie van Marssum met drie pondemaat en twee einzen land in dae Dyckland by Lioyngia huus bedenkt. Heer Tjalling, prebendaris te Marssum schonk in 1501 aan het Maria-beeld in de kerk van Marssum land op't suyden van Lyonie sylslaet. Naast Lunia lag in de 15de eeuw dus een waterlossing in de Middelzeedijk. De sate Lunia was in 1640 eigendom van Schelte van Paffenrode, in 1700 van de heer Cammingha. In 1702 werd de sate gekocht door Wybren Sipckesz Bokma en Jan Taeckesz, die zich Luinia ging noemen. Zijn naam staat ook op de wapensteen uit 1726 in de voorgevel van de boerderij. Op het perceel van de wier lag in 1832 de boomgaard.\"",
