De wier lag ten noorden van de boerderij; vandaaraf kon deze splitsing worden gecontroleerd. De grootte van het goed was oorspronkelijk omvangrijker: in 1535 had Gerbrandastate nog hooilanden buitendijks, ver ten westen van Harlingen. Naderhand sloeg de zee deze weg. In 1640 was Gerbranda van een niet-adellijke eigenaar. In 1718 lag naast de boerderij nog wel een stinswier; in 1830 was ook deze verdwenen.\"",
