    "OMSCHRIJVING_RIENKS_EN_WALTHER" : "Langs de zuidkant van een groot veengebied op een zandrug, die er evenwijdig mee liep, een reeks dorpen; Brongerga, Katlijk, Nieuwehorne, Oudehorne, Schurega, Jubbega en Hoornsterzwaag. Beschermde het aangemaakte land van die dorpen tegen het veenwater. De dijk zal ten noorden van Donkerbroek en de Haule hebben doorgelopen tot aan de provinciegrens. De leidijken in de Friese Zuidoosthoek waren dijkjes met alleen plaatselijke betekenis als veenwaterkering. De tijd van aanleg is niet bekend; het waren waarschijnlijk oude dijken.",
