Grillige sloten zijn dikwijls de restanten van oude geulen en prielen uit de tijd dat de kwelder nog onbedijkt was. Doorgaande of verspringende rechte lijnen zijn in dit klein-schalig prielen en oeverwallenlandschap dan ook vrijwel niet aanwezig, het kenmerkende ligt juist in het niet gelijk zijn van de grootte en
